Marvel Two-In-One #2

Issue(s): Marvel Two-In-One #2
Cover Date: Mar 74
Title: "Manhunters from the stars!"
Credits:
Steve Gerber - Writer
Gil Kane - Penciler
Joe Sinnott - Inker

Review/plot:
Namorita is on Hydrobase waiting for Namor and the Amphibian scientists to investigate a cure for all of the Atlanteans to nerve gas, when a strange man with a child-like intelligence washes ashore.

It's Wundarr, the Superman parody that Gerber introduced previously in a Man-Thing story. Namor shows up and scares Wundarr off, and Nita convinces her cousin to head after him.

Before the Atlanteans can get to him, Wundarr arrives in Manhattan and gets into a fight with the Thing.

Namor shows up and defends Wundarr.

Meanwhile, two members of Wundarr's alien race arrive. They are called Dakkamites, and their names are Tuumar and Zeneg. They've been instructed to kill Wundarr. In a further twist on the Superman parody, it turns out that Wundarr's father was completely wrong about the imminent destruction of their planet. Wundarr's father was executed by the authorities, and now they want to kill Wundarr to ensure that he never attempts to extract vengeance.

Their attacks on Wundarr cause the Thing and Namor to cease their fighting and join forces. The Dakkamites are driven off, and Wundarr, oblivious to all of it, is left in the Thing's custody.

Comments

Not very significant, but it's with this issue that Namorita starts getting drawn with big knockers.

If this takes place after FF 149, wouldn't the Thing be furious at Namor because of the fight they just had?

Clyde, i'd only worry about that if a future issues referenced this in some way, like the Thing still being mad. As it is, the next time the Thing sees Namor is in Super-Villain Team-Up #5 and he doesn't reference this story. At the end of FF #149, the Inhumans say that they'll tell the FF that it was all a ruse eventually, and maybe that happened already or maybe the Thing is just already so used to fighting Namor and then teaming-up with him.
