Issue(s): Master of Kung Fu #40
Cover Date: May 76
Title: "The murder agency"
Credits:
Doug Moench - Writer
Paul Gulacy - Penciler
Dan Adkins - Inker

Review/plot:
Shang-Chi returns home from his disillusioning mission in Hong Kong and quits the British Secret Service. However, Black Jack appears at his flat and appeals for his return because someone has infiltrated the Service and is kidnapping agents.

Leiko leaves the country on a mission (after Shang-Chi says he does not love her)...

...but she leaves word for Tarr and Shang-Chi to re-activate an old agent , Larner, who was let go and who is now a guilt-ridden drunk due to failures in past missions. Reston shows up as well, and then mysterious agents attack them all.

After fighting them off, Shang-Chi finds a 'clue' that is an obvious trap but Tarr and Shang-Chi decide to spring it anyway.

In a previous letters page, someone complained that Shang-Chi allows Black Jack to call him 'chinaman'. This issue, angry with the agency, Shang-Chi almost hits him for it, but then we see him calming himself.

Gulacy's art is always enjoyable, and Moench's characterization is great as well.

Larner was visually based on Marlon Brando.
