Moon Knight #7-8

Issue(s): Moon Knight #7, Moon Knight #8
Cover Date: May-Jun 81
Title: "The moon kings" / "Night of the wolves"
Credits:
Doug Moench - Writer
Bill Sienkiewicz - Penciler
Klaus Janson / Frank Giacoia - Inker

Review/plot:
Based on the cover to issue #8, i thought Moon Knight was going to be going up against Werewolf By Night, which would have been interesting since Moon Knight was originally designed (his silver costume and weapons) as an opponent for Jack Russel's alter-ego, something that's mainly been ignored since his first appearance.

But this is just a group of terrorists who poison a city's water supply...

...causing mass hallucinations...

...and Moon Knight & co. put a stop to it.

The "Werewolf" is just a guy in a mask.

The cover to issue #7 is pretty cool. Unfortunately it only depicts a dream sequence.

Moon Knight's chopper is destroyed in the chaos.

After the first six issues of this series being "one and done" plots, a two-parter might have helped add some complexity to the series, but this story didn't really need more than one issue. There's only so many scenes of Moon Knight fighting crazy people and/or going crazy that one needs to see, no matter how nice the art.

Comments

Jeff Lemire was obviously fond of this story.
