Review/plot:
After some serious drive-by parenting by Cyclops and Jean Grey...

...the young former members of the X-Terminators go buzz an old lady in a flying saucer built by Takeshi (aka Wiz Kid). The lady, you'll note, bears a striking resemblance to Leech's former foster mother, Annalee.

This old lady is a UFO freak, and she manages to get a picture of Takeshi's saucer and alerts the media and the police. After a bit of hijinx in which Leech and Artie are mistaken for aliens...

...the old lady welcomes them into her home.

I wouldn't mind seeing some actual stories drawn by Jon Bogdanove, but not little maudlin non-adventures like this.

Comments

This story should take place before X-Factor 63 since Jean is wearing her red costume.

I don't think i'm going to worry about the costume here. Jean got a yellow and blue X-Men costume in X-Men #263. And she wears it in X-Factor #56 but then goes back to the red costume (including in some X-Men issues) until X-Factor #63. So she could be switching between costumes.
If we want an in-story reason, we know that when she wore the yellow and blue in X-Factor #56 it upset Cyclops a little. So for their date night, she thought she would wear the red costume.

Of course it's really just that i prefer to cluster stories from the same issue whenever possible. ;-)

This is the sort of story I love to see in an annual. It answered my question of, "Wait, what happened to Artie and Leech?" just as I was asking it. It gave Leech a little closure on the horrific stuff he went through in Mutant Massacre. And Taki's line about Leech pulling his no-powers field in gave an answer for the minor continuity problem in X-Terminators of how Leech was able to fly in Taki's ships late in the story after repeatedly wrecking them at the start.

Leech began to pull in his power null field beginning with X-Factor 19. After that he was able to pull it in enough that he effectively turned it off but it took a lot of concentration to hold it in. Marvel Girl has been shown carrying him with her powers before Inferno and even in her arms while levitating after Inferno.
