New Warriors #39Issue(s): New Warriors #39 Review/plot: Rage is cleared of charges in the death of Kimeiko Ashu when he (falsely) testifies that he acted in self defense. He's supported by Night Thrasher, who is also taking custody (with Chord) of Rage now that his grandmother is dead. ![]() ![]() Thrash then takes Rage to Paris, where they spread photos of Rage's grandma. ![]() Speedball patches things up with his dad. ![]() Firestar waits at her dad's hospital bed. She calls Vance on the phone, and is then visited by her friend Jupiter, who turns out to be cool with the fact that Firestar is a mutant. Firestar's father later wakes from his coma. Nova visits with his brother Robbie, who lost a finger to Ashu's gang. Robbie says that the good his brother does as Nova is worth any risk. Nova is later caught in his undies by Namorita. ![]() Namorita is still feeling guilty about her role in recent events, and she tells Nova that she's leaving the team for a while. Nova says she can't leave and kisses her, but she still leaves. Some nice quiet moments. I liked this scene showing Rage and Speedball's friendship, and it's a good contrast between Speedball and Night Thrasher's characters. ![]() Quality Rating: B- Chronological Placement Considerations: Namorita leaves the team this issue and so shouldn't appear elsewhere with the New Warriors after this (when she returns to the team, she's blue). The MCP have Night Thrasher #2-5 prior to this story. References:
