Nomad #2Issue(s): Nomad #2 Review/plot: ![]() Nomad wanders into a town where the locals are mean to animals. And, well, Nomad stops them. Nomad, Deer Avenger. Fabian Nicieza really plays up the anti-establishment side of Nomad, having him say things like, "Never should have left the interstate... but there's more button-down goose steppings on the major arteries" and "I'm on him like cheap on K-Mart". He also goes a little overboard on the animal rights thing. The town he is in is known as the "Roadkill Capital of the United States", and Nomad compares it to if they were called the "gay-bashing capital? Or the Jew-hating capital?". I do like the idea of Nomad as a kind of eco-Punisher. And i definitely demand more scenes where Nomad frees all the animals trapped by some animal-abusing villain, and the villain finds himself surrounded by these adorable little critters, terrified as if they're a pack of hungry wolves. ![]() The issue of more long term relevance is the revelation of the task force that Andie Sterman was said to be getting last issue. The team will include Jack Norris, former husband of the Valkyrie's human host, last seen in Defenders #87... ![]() ...and USAgent. ![]() Andie is told that USAgent's real name is "John Walker, aka Jack Daniels". I guess she's high up enough in the government to be allowed to know both aliases, but i wonder why they'd bother giving him two different names if they're just going to tell everybody both of them. I like the dark moody art by S. Clarke Hawbaker and Mark McKenna (and colorist Joe Rosas). But sometimes it looks a little weird. Maybe the problem is that Nomad's hair is so big, it makes his head look small. ![]() ![]() Here's the Mountain Dew scene for this issue: ![]() It's left to our imagination what Nomad actually does to the animal torturers in this issue, but in a later lettercol it's confirmed that he does not kill them. It's said that he went "a little over the edge" in his original mini-series, but he's back to a non-lethal philosophy now. Posted by: Cringe Worthy | March 1, 2016 5:02 PM Evan Williams is only during the first week of the month. The other weeks it alternates between his other aliases Jim Beam, Jamesons Irish, and Chivas Regal. Posted by: Jonathan | March 1, 2016 6:41 PM Seeing US Agent appear, for a minute I tought "Ooh! former Cap and former Bucky finally reunited!" Then I was like no wait, this Bucky wasn't this Cap's Bucky... gosh, there have been too many Caps and Buckys. Posted by: KombatGod | December 15, 2017 9:22 AM Comments are now closed. |
