Review/plot:
So Luke Cage once fought a guy who alternately went by Senior Suerte and Senior Muerte, Mr. Luck and Mr. Death. He died. But it turns out he's got two brothers, and now they've each taken on one of their dead brother's personas.

They go after cage, firebombing the Gem Theater and nearly killing D.W. (another man, Tony, that was helping D.W. set up the projector does die).

Cage hits the streets looking for info on the duo, but no one wants to talk. One guy who might have talked is killed by Mr. Death. It's a pretty bizarre little scene.

Meanwhile, they set a trap for Danny at the Rand-Meachum office. Danny has to use the power of the Iron Fist twice to escape, leaving him completely spent. But eventually they track the two brothers down, and get them both arrested.

After the senseless death of a civilian, i kind of expected that comic book justice cause Suerte and Muerte to die as well, but they don't.

Bob Diamond is still appearing as Danny's sparring partner.

Under (Mary) Jo Duffy, this is an ok series. Some good moments but generally just a standard crime-fighting book.

Bringing back Muerte/Suerte is kind of a stretch, but i think it's mainly covering for his reappearance in Captain America after his death in an early issue of Hero For Hire.

Comments

Jon D'Agostino was a regular artist for Archie.

i think these two characters were created to explain the senor suerte in cap america 224. there was really no way for the original to have survived his death at the end of hero for hire 11 (even if the "suerte" guy in 224 seems to think he was the original)
