Review/plot:
ROM comes to New York and causes a panic when he 'neutralizes' a prostitute that was really a Dire Wraith (along with a few other Wraiths).

The prostitute's pimp hires Cage to get revenge on ROM. A group of Wraith's also imitate the Fantastic Four in order to further convince Power Man and Iron Fist that ROM is the enemy.

But when they face him in person, after an extended fight where ROM even "neutralizes" Iron Fist's chi...

...they come to realize that he's not a bad guy and they agree to help him.

Colleen's relationship with Bob Diamond is heating up.

She reveals that she was hurt pretty bad when Scott Summers left her after finding out that Jean Grey was still alive, and that in general people she cares for tend to get hurt.

Master Khan watches her conversation with Bob from a crystal ball.

Chris Sims is much more enthusiastic about this story than i am. It does do a good job of playing up the paranoia angle of the Dire Wraiths; much more so than the actual ROM comic, in my opinion.

Greg LaRocque's work looks really good here. It's a lot more fluid than later work.

Is this the only appearance of ROM not written by Bill Mantlo? ROM had very few direct crossovers with other titles. Usually it was guest stars in his own comic, or wraiths (without ROM) in other comics. And your entries for MTIO #99 and Hulk # 295-296 were written by Mantlo. PM&IF is rather an odd comic for a ROM crossover. I wonder if it was editorially mandated, if Mary Jo Duffy liked the character (or this idea of a story), or if she was doing a favor for Mantlo.

@ Chris - ROM makes a brief out-of-armor appearance at Rick Jones and Marlo Chandler's 1994 wedding in Hulk #417-419, written by Peter David. All his other appearances (save this one) appear to have been written by Mantlo. This is according to a cursory inspection of the ROM database lookup from this page.
