Cover Date: Nov 82
Title: "Heatwave"
Credits:

Ralph Macchio - Editor

Review/plot:
Moon Knight gets into a fight with a common thug...

...and winds up getting himself and the thug trapped at the bottom of an empty water tower during a heat wave.

Not exactly impressive. Moon Knight's support team Marlene and Frenchie hire Power Man & Iron Fist to locate Knight after he's been missing for two days.

Meanwhile Iron Fist fights Commodore Donny Planet, the thug's boss.

So big, so fast alert:

Cowan's art is kind of sketchy...

...and O'Neil's scripting also isn't great. There's a scene in the beginning where Luke teaches Danny some street talk, for example:

Luke: Danny, are you tellin' me tha the air conditioner is outta wack... and it aint' gonna be fixed today? Man, that's cold!

Danny: Really? I feel warm, the radio said 105 degrees...

Luke: Naw, on the street, "cold" means "nasty"... Never mind. For the best arts martial artist in the world, you sure are dumb sometimes.

Danny: Be fair, Luke. I haven't had your... education.

Comments

Commodore Donny Planet (no relation to Captain?) has another appearance in Moon Knight 26. It might be set before this issue but I'm not sure.

He's another one of those "it's not fat, it's muscle" type guys marvel liked.

Thanks, Kveto. I've added a tag for him and some scans, and even got a So Big, So Fast alert out of it. This must be after Moon Knight #26 but not directly after since there's a reference to MK #28.

Long-time reader, first-time commenter!

Not sure how this affects your timeline (if at all), but the editor's note citing the death of Marlene's brother refers to MK #23, rather than MK #28. (The lettering or printing of the issue was just a bit messy in that one spot, making the "23" *look like* a "28"!)

Thanks Rand.
