Title: "The coming of the She-Beast!"

Review/plot:
I thought it was stupid when they brought back the criminal who killed Uncle Ben in Amazing Spider-Man #200. But this issue does one better and brings back the wolf that ate Iron Fist's mom!

She's been mutated into a humanoid form by Master Khan. She leads a group of Khan's goons on an attack on Danny's house in order to retrieve the orb he found recently. Danny easily beats up the goons while still wearing roller skates...

...but he doesn't have as easy a time against "Fera"...

...and she makes off with the gem.

Meanwhile, Luke Cage decides not to leave Times Square when he realizes that doing so will open up the place to criminals.

It's noted that Colleen Wing is a lot more upbeat and less grim than she used to be. She attributes it to her father having snapped out of his amnesia and her relationship with Bob Diamond.

The art in this issue has a strange, almost cartoony look to it. I think it's a combination of a lighter coloring and Mike Mignola's inks not really being compatible with Ernie Chan's pencils. It's not bad, it's just a little off for Marvel.

  • It was Master Khan's men who attacked the wedding in Power Man & Iron Fist #95.
  • A pack of wolves killed Iron Fist's mom in Marvel Premiere #15 (which i guess technically should count as Fera's first appearance).

i liked the ending where Luke saves the old lady. kinda shows how it would be nice to have superheroes around for the little things they could do. its a sweet scene.

I missed this issue but had the rest of the story. Strange thing is, Fera killing Fist's mother doesn't get mentioned again. Maybe Busiek thought it was a bit much, too. So it wasn't till 20 years later, adult me completed my PM&IF collection, read this issue and went "Whaaaat?" At the end, Fera helps Fist get his soul back, then splits. Luke asks if they should stop her and Fist says no, he was thinking of thanking her. Dude, don't you watch superhero films? She's linked to your origin and killed one of your parents. That makes her your Arch Enemy!
