Punisher #20Issue(s): Punisher #20 Review/plot: ![]() This is Shea Anton Pensa's only Marvel work but he's done things for DC and elsewhere, notably some Sandman. Gerry Talaoc is a heavy inker, so it could just be that their styles aren't meshing. ![]() ![]() This is the second of two fill-ins after Whilce Portacio's run on pencils, and Erik Larsen will begin next issue. Storywise, Punisher has come to Las Vegas to kill a mysterious assassin that is targeting a witness in a mob case. Punisher would normally happily kill the assassin and everyone on trial, but "even I recognize that a successful prosecution could deal organized crime in Nevada a crippling blow". However, he might have been better off going with his first impulse, because he receives a bad tip on the description of the assassin and the witness winds up getting killed. The Punisher does get the assassin though. ![]() ![]() ![]() Despite the art (it's mostly everybody's teeth that are freaking me out), Mike Baron gets in a good little story that has a few twists before giving us another unconventional ending where the Punisher doesn't succeed in his goals. Just an observation: we're in Vegas, but there's no mention or nod to the Hulk book. That's not surprising; this book remains relatively divorced from the Marvel universe. CommentsThose first few panels I was really confused as to (a) why Wonder Man was wearing his safari jacket again and (b) why he had turned to crime. Posted by: Robert | October 9, 2014 5:17 PM Comments are now closed. |
