Review/plot:
This issue introduces the female Dire Wraiths, who have a much more fearsome design than the males.

It's a little odd that we haven't seen any females until now. In the build-up to these issues we've been seeing more of the Wraith Witches, and the idea is that this is what they look like without their cloaks. It's all a bit hard to buy that first we never saw female wraiths (and probably assumed that some of the male Wraiths masquerading as human females were female themselves) or even heard that there was a distinction between the genders. But i'm happy to let things slide because these Wraiths are a vast improvement over the previous version.

As for the plot itself, it's basically a pointless visit to Mordillo's island from Master of Kung Fu.

And ROM is clearly unhappy with Brandy's transformation into Starshine.

Whatever you think of Brynocki, he's a weird character to be bringing in for the same issue where you're introducing the horrific new version of the Dire Wraiths.

Walter Simonson designed the look of the female Dire Wraiths.

Alien, Predator, Cloverfield... if you want to make a creature look creepy, give it a creepy mouth.
