Shanna the She-Devil #3Issue(s): Shanna the She-Devil #3 Review/plot: ...she investigates a report of a Cape Buffalo smashing up a local village. She finds an ancient Greek city. Its inhabitants left ancient Crete after an attack by northwestern barbarians and formed a New Knossos in Africa. However, since the Minoans (which are what we call people from ancient Crete) worshiped bulls, which are not abundant in Africa, they took to worshiping a mystically modified version of the Cape Buffalo instead. Now the bull priest has gone crazy and taken over the village. He turns out to be a General Elam, recently deposed dictator of the West African Confederation. He plans to use the bulls to regain power, and asks Shanna to join him. She refuses and helps lead an uprising against him. She is helped by a mysterious man in a blue cloak, who dies while trying to warn her about something. There's a sub-plot running through these issues about a loser Game Warden named Patrick McShane who's always trying to get Shanna to marry him, but i've been ignoring it since i know it goes nowhere. This is the first issue to have a letters page, and the letters are very positive, including a letter from Mike Baron (or at least a Michael Baron) that includes a review on females in comics, comparing Shanna to Wonder Woman and saying that if Marvel abandons some of its cliches it has the potential to create some relevant and contemporary literature. CommentsWoW! Sexy isn't enough to describe her! Posted by: Don T | April 29, 2013 1:33 PM I got lost in the story in the middle of the issue. Who exactly is who? But then everything works out fine, so who cares really. All the characters are quickly forgotten.
