Review/plot:
The lettercol keeps promising us that "Byrne is back"!, but in truth we have three more issues of garbage to get through first. In this one, She-Hulk hasn't been filing her quarterly tax reports, so she owes the government a lot of money that she doesn't have. So an agent of the devil shows up (and no, that's not Daimon Hellstrom) with a licensing contract.

She-Hulk, in a daze, signs the contract despite efforts from Weezie.

Then She-Hulk has to hang out with a bunch of marketing demons. Weezie notices that they are interested in preserving a G rated She-Hulk.

So the resolution to this story has the Human Torch showing up with the magazine that ran nude pictures of She-Hulk from Fantastic Four #275 (and isn't it creepy that he still has it?).

(Speaking of coloring errors, check out the second scan in this entry.)

She-Hulk is left with a non-refundable advance, so her tax problems are solved.

Absolute dreck.

Quality Rating: D

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: She-Hulk is said to still be fatigued after her run in with Surge last issue, so i've made this She-Hulk's first appearance after that.

References:

  • Lexcorp tried to license She-Hulk for merchandising in She-Hulk #10-11, but she's promised it will work out better this time.
  • The magazine Johnny Storm "reads" with the green glasses comes from Fantastic Four #275.

Is it creepy that the Torch still has the nudie mag with the She-Hulk in it? No.

Would it be creepy if he had a nudie mag with the Invisible Woman in it? Yes.

Yes it's creepy as the woman photographed (She Hulk) never gave consent and Johnny knows that.

Well, she doesn't seem to mind Johnny having it. Maybe she's fine with family or close friends?

FF #275 made it clear that she did not want Johnny to have it.

Well, never mind then.

I don't think its creepy, since I don't think he is keeping it for the opportunity to ogle Jen. He is keeping it because it is something to torment Jen with--in a playful way, like he does with Ben. Its like when your old high school friends have embarrassing photos of you tucked away in a drawer somewhere, so they can tease you about the fact that they exist.
