Review/plot:
After spending "months" with "Basil", Silver Sable marries him over the objections of her family.

"Three years" then pass and the Foreigner is still keeping secrets from Sable.

Things come to a head when Silver Sable protects the president from an assassination...

...and it turns out that the Foreigner is the assassin.

Foreigner uses his disorientation power on her for the first time, allowing him to escape.

When we first encountered the idea of Foreigner trying to kill Silver Sable on a regular basis, it came across (to me, anyway) like a sick game between two bored "sophisticated" rich people. This new information treats Sable like a naif. The story also ensures that her prior association with the Foreigner doesn't mean that she herself was involved in black ops, which again feels a bit off at least from the tone of her original appearances. In general it always seems to work out that when characters have mysterious pasts, the details are less interesting than the mystery.

There are actually two more Early Tales back-ups but they are just Saga-style retellings of her appearances in Amazing Spider-Man #265 and Amazing Spider-Man #281-282.

Quality Rating: D+

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: The beginning of issue #15's back-up takes place "months" after the end of the back-up from #14, but then we quickly jump ahead "three years" after the marriage. These issues take place while Jimmy Carter is president. That's of course a "topical" reference but it suggests placement in the late 70s era.
