Silver Surfer #12

Issue(s): Silver Surfer #12
Cover Date: Jan 70
Title: "Gather, ye witches!"
Credits:
Stan Lee - Writer
John Buscema - Penciler
Dan Adkins - Inker

Review/plot:
Thinking they are summoning a devil, a bunch of cultists summon the Abomination, rescuing him from wherever the Stranger has been keeping him. The Silver Surfer makes them send him back.

You'd think that an Abomination/Surfer clash would have some interesting visuals, but not really. This is probably the best shot:

And what's with the Surfer's ballerina fighting style?

The Surfer eventually uses his more cosmic powers to still the Abomination's rage...

...and then brings him back to the cultists so they can send him back where they got him from. But i'll note that we don't actually see them doing that.

Also this issue the Silver Surfer restores a cultist that the Abomination nearly killed (as Dave notes in the Comments, he was not quite dead).

But remember that last issue, he had to send Shalla-bal on a million light year journey so that Zenn-la surgeons could fix her bullet wound.

Comments

Actually, the cultist wasn't quite dead when the Surfer cured him, so he didn't really bring him back to life. I don't know why he had to send Shalla-Bal back to Zen-La, though, but I'm sure it's artistic license.

That is a beautifully executed flying headscissors by the Surfer in the second scan. Perhaps Norrin Radd had been a mixed martial artist/wrestler back on Zen-La?
