Issue(s): Silver Surfer #13
Cover Date: Feb 70
Title: "The dawn of the Doomsday Man!"
Credits:
Stan Lee - Writer
John Buscema - Penciler
Dan Adkins - Inker

Review/plot:
The army builds a robot too powerful to control. They bury it in a bunker with a bomb too deadly to use. Someone wasn't thinking this through! Part of the problem is the scientist in charge has some schemes of his own, but who's the general who approved that decision? Anyway the Silver Surfer takes care of things but of course gets blamed for everything in the process.

He also freaks out a hippie.

I did like the part where he almost killed the scientist by accident.

Comments

You can tell the book is in trouble; int he last couple of issues, Stan has abandoned the "moral dilemma" and :"human interest" stuff of previous issues and started moving the book towards super-villain threats. This doesn't help, either, so next issue starts a long run of bringing in guest-stars that lasts until the title is cancelled.
