Review/plot:
The Silver Surfer is on Titan, where Starfox and Firelord are showing him Nebula's current mental state. It's said that she's been tested and there's no genetic evidence to support her claim of being Thanos' granddaughter. But it's noted that Thanos is full of surprises.

The big guy coming up behind them, which we're briefly supposed to think is Thanos, is in fact Geatar, the guy that Thanos used as a body duplicate when he faked his death previously. The Titans have reconstructed him and allowed him to serve Nebula while she's being held in their prison. That will turn out to not be such a great idea.

Surfer next goes and pays a visit to Mentor. It's the anniversary of the death of Sui-San, Mentor's wife and Starfox and Thanos' mother. Mentor tells Surfer what i assume is meant to be the definitive account of how Thanos caused her death, after there's been a little confusion on the details.

Their conversation is interrupted by someone telling Mentor that Galactus has arrived on Earth. The Silver Surfer leaves Titan to confront Galactus, as we saw at the end of Doctor Strange #42.

Dr. Strange already had a pointless fight with Nova and Galactus, so now it's the Silver Surfer's turn.

Some 8 pages later, Dr. Strange eventually wakes up and stops the fight, and then asks the question we're all wondering.

The honest answer is more like this.

Quality Rating: D

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: This follows up on the ending of Doctor Strange #42 although it starts earlier back in time. Magus is seen on the final page only, and it may be more of a conceptual scene, but i've included him as a character.

References:

  • Infinity War #1 and Doctor Strange #42 are "recommended reading".
  • We saw that Titan has "taken in" Nebula in Silver Surfer annual #5.
  • The Silver Surfer, Starfox, and Firelord believe that Thanos committed suicide in Infinity Gauntlet #6.
  • A footnote points to Silver Surfer #44 for when Thanos used Geatar to fake his death. That's when the Titans confirmed it. IT actually happened in Silver Surfer #38.

Crossover: Infinity War

Continuity Insert? N

Thanos did *what* to his mother..??? o_O

Thanos Rising shows what Thanos did to his mother.

Yes, but Thanos Rising also says his relationship with "Death" was all in his head, so it's of dubious value. Jason Aaron raped my childhood!
