Review/plot:
Goodwin & Romita are only responsible for one splash page in this issue. It was used to replace a page that was rejected by the Comics Code Authority.

This issue was actually an inventory story, created in case there was a deadline issue. Since the series was officially cancelled with issue #7, Marvel put out one last issue to use this already-created story.

It takes place on Christmas Eve, the day that Satan sleeps, and seems to have Satan's lesser minions trying to recruit Daimon Hellstrom. It all turns out to be a plot by Satan that Hellstrom eventually sees through, but then, i think, it all turns out to be Satan's dream, and i'm not sure if Hellstrom really even appears in this issue.

I'm keeping him as a Character Appearing just to hedge my bets.

I'd rather just focus on Russ Heath's cool demons.

Here's the rejected page:

Comments

Some of Heath's demons were taken directly from Hieronymous Bosch paintings.

Wow, I had no idea Russ Heath drew a Daimon Hellstrom story. When I hear Russ Heath, I think of so many classic Silver Age DC war stories (Sgt. Rock, Enemy Ace, etc.) as well as his "comeback" on Garth Ennis' "Enemy Ace: War in Heaven".
