Review/plot:
The Cloak and Dagger part of this issue takes place after the Predator and Prey graphic novel, so they are now living in Father Delgado's abandoned church. This is a non-action issue, showing Cloak and Dagger's relationship becoming something closer to boyfriend and girlfriend.

They are getting by thanks to the care package Dagger's step-father sent her last issue (i like the "with great power comes no income" line).

But at the same time (since Tyrone never sleeps as Cloak, he gets really tired when he reverts to human form), Cloak is contacted by Nightmare, who is pretending to be a prisoner of the Predator demon, and leads Cloak to suggest reaching out to Dr. Strange for help.

On the Dr. Strange side, he and Rintrah arrive in Hong Kong. And he finds a great evil caused by an ancient evil talisman.

To stop it from wreaking havoc on the local population, he has to become the host of the necklace.

And doing so further decreases his purity, to the point where he has to give the Amulet of Agamotto to Rintrah since he is now unable to use it.

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: For Cloak & Dagger, Marvel Graphic Novel #34 (Cloak and Dagger: Predator and Prey) takes place before this issue.

  • Dagger compares the loss of Father Delgado to Brigid O'Reilly becoming Maythem in Cloak and Dagger #5.
  • It's said here that Father Delgado betrayed Cloak and Dagger and released the Predator in Marvel Graphic Novel #34 ("the forthcoming Cloak & Dagger Graphic Novel").

Comments

The talisman is called the Wings of Needless Sorrow. Maybe this deserves a 2 historical significance rating- we recently saw the Wings again in Mighty Avengers.

We'll see. It might only be worth a Reference when we get there unless the use of the Wings becomes a major plot point.
