Sub-Mariner Comics #41Issue(s): Sub-Mariner Comics #41 Review/plot: ...and brings the Nautilus out of the painting and into the real world, and causes all wreaks of havoc with it. At Betty Dean's insistence... ...Namor puts a stop to it. By jumping on it. Which makes it disappear. The wizard dies of a heart attack. And the painting is now missing the Nautilus. But the day is saved. It's a wacky story, i'll admit. But try as he might, Everett can't top the full-on crazy of Sub-Mariner Comics #36. Another story in this issue was reprinted in Giant-Size Defenders #1. It takes place while Namor is still young, age 17. He's upsetting the other Atlanteans by flaunting his flying ability... ...and then he encounters airplanes for the first time. The planes turn out to be Nazi warplanes. Namor realizes the danger he was in and says that he'll be more humble for now on (a vow that obviously won't last long). Quality Rating: C+ Chronological Placement Considerations: The young Namor story seems to take place before Marvel Comics #1 (for example, Namor sees a plane in that issue, while this is seemingly the first time he's seen planes), so it's technically out of scope for my project, which is why i'm just covering it as a bonus for this entry (which is also why Princess Fen isn't listed as a character appearing).
