Tales Of Suspense #54 (Watcher)Issue(s): Tales Of Suspense #54 (Watcher story only) Review/plot: We know there are lots of Watchers out there. I wanted to joke that most likely the Watcher in this story is not Uatu because Uatu clearly never learned not to interfere. But he's wearing Uatu's colors, and he's referring to his father's decision that the Watchers should never interfere, and we learned last issue that it was Uatu's father who made that declaration You know what? I wish we never knew the origin of the Watcher. It makes him a lot less cool knowing he's just one of many from a race of slightly more evolved humans. Larry Lieber's art.... is what it is. It's not good, but it's kinda cool in a weird sort of way. Quality Rating: D+ Chronological Placement Considerations: My reprints for this issue come from two sources: Marvel Collectors' Item Classics for the Watcher portion and the Iron Man Masterworks for the Iron Man portion. Since the Iron Man portion continues directly in Suspense #55, i've placed the Watcher portion first. Really, there's no context to the Watcher story. References: N/A Crossover: N/A Continuity Insert? N My Reprint: Marvel Collectors' Item Classics #10 Inbound References (1): showCharacters Appearing: Uatu the Watcher 1964 / Box 2 / Silver Age CommentsUatu is a big whiner. he's constantly agonizing over not being able to do anything but watch. and why are all of these Watchers watching anyway? why don't they go do something productive with themselves? make some cream eggs? or find other aliens who are on a similar level of advancement and trade with them, watch Godzilla movies, and stuff?
