Thing #15

Issue(s): Thing #15
Cover Date: Sep 84
Title: "It started on 'Yancy' Street!"
Credits:
Mike Carlin - Writer
Ron Wilson - Penciler
Joe Sinnott - Inker

Review/plot:
We continue to see evidence that there's a wish-fulfillment thing going on during the Thing's adventures on Battleplanet in this cute issue where the Thing encounters a space alien version of the Yancy Street Gang.

Meanwhile, the Thing is starting to have feelings for Tarianna. Considering he seemed to know in issue #13 that she was a figment of his imagination, that seems a little odd.

The best part of this story, though, is the continued efforts of the thieves called the Takers to find the dowry that they took from the girl Llrrllllnnllyyrrl.

References:

  • Pretty much every issue of the Thing at this point will have a reference to Secret Wars. In this issue, while flying his spaceship from last issue, Ben notes that the patchwork nature of the Battleplanet makes it look like a board game.
  • Llrrllllnnllyyrrl and the Takers were introduced in Thing #11.
