Thing #32Issue(s): Thing #32 Review/plot: He's also having some emotional problems and even lashing out at his friend the Thing, who admittedly isn't being too sensitive about telling Vance that he thinks he should return to his parents. It comes out during the course of this story that Vance's father had been abusing him and that's why he ran away. His father has now checked himself into therapy and Vance agrees to come home. But Vance's father's abuse will return as a topic in New Warriors. Also in this issue, the dizziness that Thing experience last issue is tied to the mystery of where the UCWF is getting all these super-strong wrestlers. Quality Rating: C+ Chronological Placement Considerations: At the beginning of this issue, the Thing and Sharon Ventura return from the island where Sharon was performing for a movie. The Thing and Sharon appear on the island in Secret Wars II #7, so that must take place between last issue and this one. References:

I can admire the amount of effort being put into it at this point - new concepts like the UCWF, new characters, competent characterization. Carlin is trying to do something more than pedestrian. But it just doesn't seem like the Thing to me. It's not surprising the title will be cancelled soon. Posted by: Chris | October 17, 2013 12:44 AM Comments are now closed. |
