Thor #143Issue(s): Thor #143 Review/plot: For Thor, this is basically a downtime issue, focusing mainly on Balder and Sif instead. They have been fighting with the Enchanters - those who wear the Living Talismen! I've always felt that these guys ought to be related to the Enchantress somehow, but apparently not. Balder and Sif arrive on Earth at the end of the issue. Balder seems a little jealous of the attention that Sif gives to Thor. Since this is mostly an Asgardian focused story, Kirby gets to go crazy on the art. This kind of art seems to inspire him more than the Earth based stuff, even compared to the Super-Skrull fight from last issue. Quality Rating: C+ Chronological Placement Considerations: The Enchanters plot runs from Thor #143-145, and each doesn't lead directly into the next but there isn't much time in between. References:

Posted by: Paul | September 12, 2012 7:24 PM Yeah, and Bill Everett's guest inking has something to do with the new verve the author notes in the art. This was the issue selected to represent prime Lee/Kirby Thor in 1974's Origins of Marvel Comics. Posted by: Z. Kiwi | July 10, 2016 3:25 PM I believe Mark Evanier quoted Jack Kirby on the point that when he found out Everett was inking him, Kirby opined that Everett should be doing his own book and not having to ink Kirby. Everett's troubles with alcohol and his occasional professional run-ins with Stan Lee probably account taking this inking job. At least Everett go to do a Sub-Mariner run one last time before he died. Tragic. Also, it's ironic a non-Colletta inked issue should be deemed representative of Lee and Kirby's Thor run. Posted by: Brian C. Saunders | July 10, 2016 6:04 PM This whole storyline was odd to me. The Enchanters are majorly powerful especially the Living Talisman but unlike all of Thor's more powerful villains, they've never reappeared.
