Review/plot:
At the end of Thor #150, Thor saw the Wrecker defeated by the Destroyer. He doesn't know that Sif is inside the Destroyer armor, so he attacks.

Sif tries to stop him but the longer she stays inside the armor the less control she has. Remember that Balder and Sif went to the Norn Forest so that they could retrieve Odin's crystal ball so that he could see the danger Thor was in. It seems that was unnecessary since one of Odin's wizards had a replacement. Odin sees the battle between Thor and the Destroyer and returns Thor's powers.

Meanwhile, the trolls under Karnilla's command betray her when Ulik shows up.

Balder offers to fight Ulik in exchange for his freedom, and the Norn Queen agrees.

The Destroyer armor collapses and Thor heads back to Asgard to investigate, allowing the police to carry away the armor. Thor finds Balder and Ulik in battle and hops in. Meanwhile Odin goes to Earth and brings the armor home.

Thor defeats Ulik but Loki manages to snag his hammer. Thor seems to imply that he will revert to his mortal form in 60 seconds, even though he is in Asgard. But he and Sif head back to Earth to find Loki, and Thor quickly turns back into Don Blake.

Loki defeats Sif but Don manages to grab his walking stick from Loki and turn back into Thor.

Karnilla the Norn Queen expresses her love for Balder. Meanwhile Ulik falls, possibly down the same chasm that the Hulk was previously falling down in Tales To Astonish #101 and Hulk #102. He saves himself and finds a cavern filled with glowing rocks.

Don Blake takes Sif to a hospital and operates on her (it's weird how he can just come and go on his own schedule at the hospital). Loki shows up to interfere. Thor and Loki get into a big fight...

...and Odin doesn't like it so he tells them to cut it out. Loki leaves.

Odin wears such fabulous hats.

The Inhumans back-ups in Thor #151 & 152 continue Triton's adventure with the Hollywood crew and in NYC. Issue #153 ends with Black Bolt picking up where Triton left off in finding a new haven for the Inhumans, but that story is to be unfinished. #153 begins full-issue Thor stories.

Quality Rating: C+

Chronological Placement Considerations: While this issue continues directly from Thor #150, Thor's appearance in Fantastic Four #73 takes place in between panels at the end of #150.

Comments

Inhumans story continues in back ups in What If 29/30. And these story make it clear that all of these back ups take place before Fantastic Four 45.

I liked all this convoluted stuff with all sorts of plotlines going and all the different characters.

In Thor 153 Loki picks up Mjolnir effortlessly. This apparently is due to the fact that he has stolen some of Karnilla's power in addition to his own. So Loki + Karnilla> Odin?
