Thor #474Issue(s): Thor #474 Review/plot: To be fair, this time Thor is remembering some pretty cool monsters. The monsters were sent by Mogul of the Mystic Mountain, a villain from a Tales of Asgard story (from Hogun the Grim's homeland). That story was not included in my Marvel Spectacular reprints of Thor, but it seems that the Asgardians overthrew the ruler of the Mystic Mountain and installed a puppet regime under a Prince Alibar. Then Mogul's sister helped Mogul return, and now Asgard is dealing with some blowback. But the Asgardians manage to fight back Mogul's forces once again, and Mogul himself is trapped in a genie bottle. I assume that the Asgardians then got embroiled in an endless occupation of the region. The Asgardian Hermod was badly injured in the initial attack but since he appears in modern day stories it seems that he recovered. Thor looks back on all of this entirely through a frame of "ah, the good old days!". Quality Rating: D+ Chronological Placement Considerations: Thor is with the High Evolutionary and the Goldings, who are on their way to Wundagore. We heard the High Evolutionary planning to return to Wundagore last issue, but they didn't have to leave right away (and i've allowed Thor to go to Rick & Marlo's wedding in the meantime). But the next arc should begin soon after this and Thor shouldn't appear elsewhere in between. References:

CommentsI've never understood the mechanics of these "framing device" fill-ins. Are they written 2 pages shorter than normal to allow a framing device? Posted by: S | February 19, 2018 4:36 PM That's a weird splash page. The hatching makes it worse. Posted by: Enchlore | February 23, 2018 12:54 PM Comments are now closed. |
