Thor annual #2Issue(s): Thor annual #2 Review/plot: ![]() ...but Loki ruins things by activating the Destroyer armor. ![]() ![]() ![]() Luckily Balder is able to find where Loki is controlling it from so Odin can stop him. ![]() Fun, epic battle from Kirby. ![]() Some of the other tournament players include a dwarf illusionist named Spirit-Weaver... ![]() ![]() ...and a guy named Tyr, but not the Agardian War God. ![]() But the best thing about this issue is in the beginning when Thor is politely standing at attention letting his father ramble on while the Warriors Three whisper through the window about how they need to hurry up and get to drinking already! ![]() Quality Rating: C+ Chronological Placement Considerations: The MCP places this between Thor #141-142 which is almost a year after publication date but this is a standalone story. Thor was in a continuing run from Thor #134-140 which is presumably why this got pushed forward in publication time. References:

N My Reprint: Giant-Size Thor #1 Inbound References (1): showCharacters Appearing: Absorbing Man, Balder, Destroyer (Asgardian armor), Fandral, Heimdall, Hogun, Loki, Odin, Thor, Volstagg 1967 / Box 3 / Silver Age CommentsWas the Destroyer permanently mute after this? Posted by: Mark Drummond | December 15, 2012 4:59 PM Seems like it. Maybe we can attribute the talking here to Loki's magic? Posted by: fnord12 | December 16, 2012 12:40 AM The Destroyer DOES talk in some post Thor 300 appearances, such as Thor 382 and Jurgens' Thor 1-2. Posted by: Michael | December 16, 2012 9:12 AM Just looking over the chronology; is this the first Warriors Three appearance outside the Tales of Asgard? Posted by: Ataru320 | September 17, 2014 3:24 PM Volstagg appeared in Thor #128, but that's otherwise correct, Ataru. Posted by: fnord12 | September 17, 2014 5:57 PM Though the fight with the Destroyer was cool, I would have liked if the tournament had been given space to play out as well. I enjoyed the rivalry Thor and the Warriors Three had with the brothers from the thousand galaxies. The reprints in the back are the first appearances of the Enchantress and Executioner (good choice) and of "Merlin" / Maha Yogi (who wanted THAT?). Posted by: Mortificator | May 13, 2016 12:10 AM I loved this one as it expanded on the Warriors Three in the present and the universe surrounding Asgard.
