Uncanny X-Men #337Issue(s): Uncanny X-Men #337 Review/plot: Professor X is depressed after the events of Onslaught and he's not above being a dick about it. ![]() ![]() Meanwhile, Bastion looks on as Graydon Creed uses the tragedy of Onslaught to officially launch his presidential campaign. ![]() Cameo by Peter Parker, and watching on TV, J. Jonah Jameson decides that Creed needs further investigation. ![]() This will kick off a multi-part subplot for JJ that spreads across the X-books. I do not like this role for him. I haven't been keeping up with everything in the Spider-Man books, but at far as i know Jameson has been put out to pasture with a vanity op-ed column. He's not meant to be a good reporter; in fact, most if not all of the stories involving him as a reporter are played for laughs (his plot in the Daily Bugle miniseries played things up in a pulpy way and had him - once again! - blinded by his hatred of Spider-Man). It's almost like Lobdell is insulting the intelligence of readers of the mutant books, with no faith that you'll follow along if he used an actual established Daily Bugle reporter. Forget Ben Urich even; it might have been nice to see a more minor character like Ken Ellis or Charlie Snow. We later see Bastion back at Operation: Zero Tolerance, and we meet a lacky named Harper who is testing out some shape-shifting technology. ![]() Mostly this is your typical (i.e. good) Scott Lobdell post-crossover downtime issue, with some moments of fun between the sadness. ![]() ![]() ![]() Quality Rating: C+ Chronological Placement Considerations: Takes place before Professor X surrenders to the authorities in X-Men #57.
