Uncanny X-Men #339Issue(s): Uncanny X-Men #339 Review/plot: This is a tie-in with X-Factor and also guest-stars Spider-Man. It wasn't published yet, but if we take X-Men/Spider-Man #3 into account, the X-Men know that this Spider-Man is, well, i won't say he's the clone, but they know he's the one whose history with the X-Men only runs until the mid-70s. That continuity insert maybe explains why he recognizes Wolverine, but raises the question of why Jean is surprised that he calls her Marvel Girl. Sidey is here to "warn" the X-Men that J. Jonah Jameson is investigating Graydon Creed. Not sure why it's a warning, exactly. "Five hours" later, we see Mystique contemplating killing Creed (who she identifies as her son). But she sees Icemen embedded in Creed's campaign and decides that "this changes everything". We then see Beast tailing JJ. Their plane is attacked by "Ever", the mutant who we saw in Callisto's hologram of Gene Nation in Uncanny X-Men #325, and Havok. The other X-Men catch up to the plane. Havok teleports away, leaving Cyclops to die in a fall if Storm hadn't caught him. But it's a Daily Bugle reporter named Nick Bandouveris, not JJ, who has learned that Creed's parents are Mystique and Sabretooth. He's killed by Bastion. Funniest scene in the issue is Joseph trying to recite Cable's origin story. It's the fingers that get me. Quality Rating: C- Chronological Placement Considerations: Takes place after X-Men #58. The MCP have Scarlet Spider here between Amazing Spider-Man #416-417 and the X-Factor characters between X-Factor #126-127. References:
