Review/plot:
Spidey fights Commanda, who wears a tiara that controls floating electronic devices and a force field (but can't use both together). She also wears a suit that discharges an electric shock and can alter its appearance. She's an attractive woman (according to the dialogue, anyway) who flusters Spidey by alternatively seducing and mocking him, and Spidey manages to let her escape.

The next day Spidey is eating breakfast and moping about acting like a child in front of Commanda while the news reports on Doc Ock's crime spree in the middle of the country. Later that morning, Sally shows up at the Bugle and discovers that Peter is the photographer who takes pictures of Spidey. She also makes Betty a little jealous.

Spidey and Commanda fight again at Liz Allan's father's hotel, where there is a jewelry exhibition. Spidey basically defeats Commanda and resists her charms but it turns out she is a guest at the hotel and she makes like Spidey was assaulting him and he has to run.

Tiny has been out sick for days.

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: According to the chronology chart in UTOS #14, this issue takes place during ASM #12. The reason for this is because Doctor Octopus is on a crime spree on the first three pages of ASM #12, and Peter hears about it on the radio here. I think it works just as well if Doc Ock's crime spree starts a little earlier, so i've got this before ASM #12 instead of during it.

Comments

Someone spilled some '90s in their '60s.

I bet that wasn't the only thing getting spilled on Commanda...

The general style and appearance of the Enchantress got spilled all over Commanda too: long blonde hair, tiara, low cut green pant suit with long cape... Coincidentally odd that this story is retrofitted in right before Amora's own first appearance in Journey Into Mystery #103?

I always thought that this one fit into #12 after Peter got beaten and unmasked by Doc Ock and was just getting over the flu but before he beat Doc Ock at the end. I could be wrong.
