Review/plot:
Sally Avril (aka Bluebird) dies. The story is told after the fact by Spider-Man talking to the Human Torch. The Black Knight kidnaps a foreign diplomat's child (the country they are from is 'Ksavia'), and Spider-Man finds Bluebird fighting a bunch of his potential recruits. He deliberately lets her get hit to show her that super-heroing is dangerous business and that he can't always be there to protect her. So Sally gives up being Bluebird and decides to go into competition against Peter as a photographer. As Spidey is fighting the Black Knight...

...she badgers Jason into running a red light so she can get there quickly and take pictures, and she is killed in a car crash. Peter goes after the Black Knight with a vengeance and after mocking all his gimicky weapons...

...he nearly beats him to death until the Human Torch arrives and stops him.

The Torch talks some sense into Spidey (it totally wasn't his fault) but Peter is still depressed.

Chronological Placement Considerations: Now you see why i've got a whole bunch of Spider-Man's stacked up in a row here: In this issue the Black Knight is basically auditioning to be a leader of Baron Zemo's Masters of Evil, who don't appear until Avengers #6. According to the chronology chart in UTOS #14, this issue takes place between ASM #12 & #13.

Omar suggests in the comments that one of the figures carrying the Black Knight away at the end is the Melter, and if you squint really hard that does seem to be the case.

Comments

The other figure dragging away the Black Knight at the end looks like the Melter; the weird shape of his original helmet is just barely visible, and he has a cape as the Melter did.

Thanks, Omar. I agree. I've added a scan and added the Melter as a Character Appearing.
