Review/plot:
Peter runs into Tiny, who is working at a gas station, but before he can talk to him he is attacked by the Scorcher...

...who sends Spidey running. Later, he goes back to talk to Tiny but Tiny yells at him for prying into his life. Then, on a date with Betty, Peter mentions that he thinks someone has been following them and Betty suddenly gets up and walks off. Then at school Jason Ionello is back for the first day since Sally's death, and Peter offers to let Jason sit with him but Jason yells at him. Basically, everything is going wrong for Peter, and Aunt May tells him when it seems like everything is going wrong, you should try and do one thing right. That inspires Peter and he goes back to talk to Tiny again.

But when Spidey shows up at the gas station, he sees the Scorcher going down into a trap door. The Scorcher has not had it easy since Spider-Man sent him to jail. He's running a protection racket and he blames Spidey for his fate. He also reveals his origin: he was a research scientist who got framed for embezzling (i think it's sort of implied that it was easy to frame him because he was black), and instead of standing up for himself, he ran, and he's been on the run ever since. Spidey beats him, and uses the example of Scorcher not standing up for himself to get Tiny to go back to school.

A little sentimental, but still good.

This issue contains a very helpful continuity chart that shows where the Untold Tales of Spider-Man issues fit in with Amazing Spider-Man (it's big, so... part one, part two). The second half of this chart is in UTOS #25.

How does Sally Avril appear here if she died the last issue?

I don't know! I thought the answer was going to be that we see her funeral or something (i do count corpses since you never know who's going to get resurrected), but that's not the case. I've removed the tag. Thanks.
