Issue(s): Warlock #1, Warlock #2
Warlock is still playing Jesus to the High Evolutionary's God, praying to HE to not destroy the world because he thinks he can redeem it.
The Man-Beast plays the devil. It's all set up fairly well from an allegorical point of view, even if it's a bit obvious...
...but there's no escaping the fact that it's ultimately super-hero fights between Warlock and the Ani-Men.
The High Evolutionary makes Counter-Earth invisible to detection from True-Earth (as it's called throughout the series) at the beginning of issue #1.
Quality Rating: C
Chronological Placement Considerations: Warlock appears briefly in Hulk #158, and that's referenced in Warlock #3. Otherwise i'd clump the whole series together.
Continuity Insert? N
My Reprint: Essential Warlock vol. 1
In Alter Ego #149, Roy Thomas states that Kane co-plotted #1.
