Review/plot:
Spider-Man's Pursuit of the Chameleon finally results in the two of them meeting. Chameleon has for some reason disguised himself as a bus driver and is going on a rampage.

But the Chameleon escapes and goes to Kraven's old mansion to prepare for the final battle (which involves transforming himself into Kraven and checking himself out in a mirror).

Spidey is eventually lured to Kraven's grave.

Subplot with Dr. Kafka, Reynard, and Warrant:

The art in this story, despite two "finishers", often looks unfinished.

And the story in all of the first three parts of Pursuit has been pretty much devoid of content. It's just Spidey wandering around aimlessly or fighting nobodies, basically killing time until the actual confrontation in the final part.

Quality Rating: D

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: This is part three of Pursuit. Part four is in Amazing Spider-Man #389.

References:

  • Continues from Spider-Man #45 and Spectacular Spider-Man #211.
  • Carnage's rampage through Ravencroft in Spider-Man Unlimited #1 is cited as a reason for giving Dr. Kafka authority over a new Arkham Asylum Ravencroft designed for super-villains only.
  • Dr. Kafka subsequently speaks with John Jameson, with a footnote pointing us to the upcoming Web of Spider-Man annual #10.

Crossover: Pursuit

Warrant? Who is that?

Posted by: Berend | November 23, 2017 2:25 PM

A government agent introduced in issues 110-111 who went after the Lizard but endangered Billy Connors in doing so.

Ah, I see, thank you. Sorry, I'm not yet used to Fnord not having every single comic in his chronology!

It's good to know that Warrant isn't a gestalt of the band in power armour. You can never tell with Terry Kavanagh stories. Based on the scans I quite like him, as his main contribution is deciding to go away. I can think of a few other villains at this point who should take note.
