Issue(s): Web of Spider-Man #3
Cover Date: Jun 85
Title: "Iron bars do not a prison make... or Vulture is as Vulture does!"
Credits:
Louise Simonson - Writer
Greg LaRocque - Penciler
Jim Mooney - Inker
Christopher Priest - Editor

Review/plot:
The Vulture shows those young ruffians, the Vulturions, what happens to people who won't get off his lawn.

The saga of Aunt May's hat is nearly over.

Louise Simonson's expository dialogue, shown here in the introduction of the Vulture, gets on my nerves a lot more in this book than it does in Power Pack. Maybe because these characters aren't children.

Here's another example, with the Vulturions introducing themselves. It's like they can't remember their own backgrounds if they don't say it aloud every five minutes.

Quality Rating: C+

Historical Significance Rating: 1

Chronological Placement Considerations: Peter and Aunt May reconcile at the end of Amazing Spider-Man #265, so this story needs to take place prior to that.

References:

  • Hearing about the Vulture on the radio, Aunt May's boyfriend Nate Lubenski recalls the time that the Vulture rolled with Aunt May's crew at the retirement home. There's no footnote, but it was Amazing Spider-Man #224. We also learn that Nate loves cake icing.

Crossover: N/A

Continuity Insert? N

My Reprint: N/A

Characters Appearing: Aunt May, J. Jonah Jameson, Mary Jane Watson, Nate Lubenski, Spider-Man, Vulture

Long time reader, first time poster, the first pic is repeated twice.

Thanks, MegaSpiderMan. Sorry that your first comment had to be a correction, but you're probably aware that it's not uncommon!

Seeing the Vulture trash the Vulturions was gratifying.
