Review/plot:
An odd fill-in written by former Editor in Chief Jim Shooter.

Spider-Man decides to help out a team of young football players against a group of older opponents.

And in the best transition ever, "Meanwhile, on the Moon", an alien breaks into the Watcher's home...

...and steals his eyeballs, revealing the deep hidden secrets of all of Marvel's super-heroes makes a bet on Spider-Man's football game.

Guess who wins?

The alien, A'Sai, tried to cheat during the game, so as punishment the Watcher turns him into a playing card.

At the beginning of this story, Spider-Man crankily suggested that the football was full of crack, and after reading this story, i think i believe him.

"At the beginning of this story, Spider-Man crankily suggested that the football was full of crack, and after reading this story, i think i believe him." How very dare you. Jim Shooter doesn't write weird stories.

Except for this one. Ha ha

Moral of the story: never let Uatu bet on the Super Bowl.

Pretty amazing that the kids playing a pick up game of American football kept an official score clock.

Kveto, did they keep an offical score clock? I don't see it in the scans. What I see is just imagery of the scores. Maybe they did as I haven't got the comic.

There is a countdown sequence while the final pass is in the air and time "runs out" just as the little guy scores the winning touchdown.

Any1 have any context for the game? Becuz it sure seems like a team with Spidey should win... which is what happens, so I'm not sure wat the drama hear is supposed to bee.

@JC -- the alien uses one of the Watcher's devices to empower a member of the opposing team, making him a physical match for Spidey

Competent craft each month, but Web was becoming the creative ghetto of the Spider verse.
