Review/plot:
I probably bought this because Guardian was on the cover. Technically he's been Vindicator for a while now, but i continue to call James and Heather by the names i knew them as in the 80s, and i feel no shame about that. Both are in this story, in any event.

By this issue, Wolverine has left the X-Mansion grounds and is currently in New York City. Guardian and Vindicator are secretly keeping an eye on him to ensure that his new feral state doesn't mean that he's going to start going berserk among civilians. Instead, Wolverine finds some weird shape-shifting kidnapper, and, after a the brief obligatory Misunderstanding Fight...

...Guardian and Vindicator and help him fight it (actually they mostly just stand and watch while Wolvie's healing factor does its work).

Would have been cooler if this thing were a Dire Wraith now that New Warriors brought them back. Adam Kubert's art makes this a fun issue anyway.

Also in this issue, Cyber is being tested by some goofball mutants (the Dark Riders? Who knows? Looking at the character list at the MCP gave me an aneurysm. "Spyne". God.). He doesn't know it, but they want him for his "high grade" adamantium, not his ability to fight robot Wolverines.

I call out the "high grade" comment since it kind of fits with the later Kurt Busiek idea that there is such a thing as "secondary" adamantium; it seems like Cyber has the real thing.
