Review/plot:
X-Force are fighting Trevor Fitzroy. But Warpath notices Bantam skulking about and grabs him. And interrogating him he finds a way to take the fight back to the Upstarts.

Fitzroy still needs to drain energy from someone to open a portal, but Cable tricks him into touching his techno-organic arm, causing a feedback loop that results in Fitzroy draining his own energy.

X-Force then jump through the portal. Paige Guthrie follows, making a weird "SHUKKTHkretch" noise as she activates her mutant power.

Meanwhile, Justice delivers Firestar to the Gamesmaster. But the Gamesmaster reveals that he knows that Shinobi Shaw is scheming against the Gamesmaster and that Justice is scheming against Shinobi.

The other New Warriors are investigating Graydon Creed after his Tribunals attacked them in the last chapter. They force Creed to tell them where the Upstarts' captives are being held. He points them to Shinobi Shaw's headquarters. Shinobi gets an assurance from Cable that X-Force will leave him alone, and then gives them the Gamesmaster's location. Shinobi says he's done with the Upstarts. We also see that his apartment is infested with mechanical bugs.

Before X-Force arrives, we see Karma, one of the Gamesmaster's captives, waking up. It turns out that when Siena Blaze captured her in the last chapter, it was really a ruse. Karma had possessed Blaze. Karma frees the other prisoners, but their freedom is short-lived. A now-unpossessed Siena Blaze returns and knocks out all the prisoners again with an explosion.

I should also note that there continues to be a minor mystery around Moonstar, who is wearing a mask but otherwise seems to be Dani Moonstar. Cannonball tries to get answers from Moonstar during their brief freedom, but Karma convinces him that now isn't a good time (and then they are knocked out by Blaze).

Comments

This issue came out three weeks late.
Nicieza goes out of his way this issue to shoot down any possible connection between Fitzroy and Gideon. I always thought this meant Gideon was supposed to be Fitzroy's father.
The "bug" is supposed to be Husk. Paige's powers are portrayed differently then they will later be- she can usually only turn into a humanoid shape.
