Comic prices advertise "Still" 15 cents in October, then spike to 25 cents in November and then down to 20 cents in December, where it'll remain for a couple of years. The 25 cent issues were double-sized. Gerry Conway starts to write some of these books, and they border on incomprehensible. Iron Man and Daredevil were both selling so poorly at this point that they were nearly merged into a single split-title. The most interesting thing that happened this year is Stan Lee's break from the Comics Code Authority to print some anti-drug books. This is not as daring as it may sound since the books were clearly anti-drugs, and he was doing so at the request of a government agency, but it was still a risk since a lot of stores at the time only carried code approved books. Marvel's ability to sell books without the code (for three issues) made the Authority question its relevance, and it revised a number of its rules later in the year. The Kree-Skrull War begins in Avengers starting with a June cover date. The Defenders form this year in Marvel Feature, although in its initial "non-team" format; they're not officially a group. Sub-Mariner's long time love interest Lady Dorma is killed at a time when it was still pretty unique to see even supporting characters die.
